HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats released receiver Shemar Bridges and defensive lineman TyJuan Garbutt on Wednesday.
Both players are Americans.
The six-foot-four, 208-pound Bridges was in his third season with Hamilton but hadn’t played in any games in 2025. He resumed practising with the CFL club after being listed on the injury report with a hip ailment.
Bridges began the season on the six-game injured list but spent Hamilton’s last four games on the one-game injured list.
Bridges had a stellar first season with Hamilton, recording 83 catches for 933 yards and four touchdowns in 15 regular-season games to be named the East Division’s top rookie. He suited up for all 18 regular-season contests last year, registering 34 catches for 361 yards and two TDs.
The six-foot-two, 255-pound Garbutt was in his second season with Hamilton but hadn’t seen any game action this year. He registered nine tackles, a sack and forced fumble in six games in 2025 after previously spent time with Winnipeg (2023, ’24).
Garbutt had appeared in 19 regular-season games in the CFL, recording 29 tackles, four sacks and two forced fumbles while scoring a touchdown.
