Ducks prospect Masse wins QMJHL MVP

Chicoutimi Sagueneens forward Maxim Masse won the Michel-Briere Trophy as the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League MVP for the 2025-26 season, the league announced on Monday.

Masse, 20, led the QMJHL in scoring with 51 goals and 102 points in 63 games and his 51 goals was tied for the most in the league. He also led the league with a plus-62 rating, 16 power-play goals, and eight game-winning goals.

He helped lead the Sagueneens to a 49-10-5 record to finish one point behind the Moncton Wildcats for the best record in the QMJHL.

Chicoutimi swept the Halifax Mooseheads and Quebec Remparts in the first two rounds of the QMJHL playoffs, respectively, with Masse recording three goals and 15 points.

They are getting ready to begin a semifinal clash with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies beginning on Friday.

Masse was drafted 66th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2024 and has 149 goals and 298 points in 242 career QMJHL games. He was the league’s top rookie during the 2022-23 campaign, leading all rookies with 29 goals and 62 points

The Rimouski, Que., native represented Canada at the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup taking home a gold medal and followed it up by winning gold at the 2024 Under-18 World Hockey Championships.

Masse has committed to join the University of Massachusetts in the NCAA next season.
