Everett defeats Prince Albert in five games to capture first WHL title

The Everett Silvertips defeated the Prince Albert Raiders 7-2 in Game 5 of the WHL Championship Series to capture the Ed Chynoweth Cup for the first time in franchise history as league champions.

Everett will play in the Memorial Cup for the first time in Kelowna as the tournament kicks off on May 22 with the host Rockets and OHL champion Kitchener Rangers already in.

The QMJHL champion has yet to be decided with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens leading the Moncton Wildcats 3-2.

Forward Shea Busch paced the Silvertips on Friday night with a hat trick while Mattias Uyeda, Brek Liske, Nolan Chastko and Landon DuPont all finding the back of the net in the victory.
