South Korea’s Team Seungyoun Ha produced three straight one point ends to steal their way to a 5-4 win over Switzerland’s Team Silvana Tirinzoni in the women’s final at the Stu Sells Toronto Tankard on Monday.

Team Ha stole singles in the sixth, seventh and eighth ends to pick up the improbable victory over the second-ranked team in the world.

Also featuring Hyerin Kim at third, Taei Yang at second and Sujin Kim at lead, Team Ha also won the Stu Sells Oakville Tankard in early September and are currently ranked seventh in the world, right behind Canada’s Team Kerri Einarson.

Thunder Bay’ Team Krista Scharf and Waterloo’s Team Emma Artichuk were the only Canadian teams to make the playoffs in Toronto. Scharf’s rink fell to Team Tirinzoni in the quarterfinal while Artichuk and company beat the red-hot Team Xenia Schwaller in the quarters before losing the semis to Team Ha.

The men’s final featured Woodstock’s Team Mark Kean beating Scotland’s Team Kyle Waddell, 7-6.

Team Kean tallied a single in the eighth end to secure the win.
