When U.S. president Donald Trump attends the Ryder Cup this weekend, Robert MacIntyre isn’t going to notice.
“It’s just another spectator,” MacIntyre answered when asked if Trump will be a distraction.
The 29-year-old Oban, Scotland native is set for his second Ryder Cup, at Bethpage Black on Long Island, and says that politics aren’t exactly in his wheelhouse.
“I just play golf,” MacIntyre said. “Politics and stuff is out of [my expertise]. I mean, I’m not bright enough, for one, to worry about politics. I’m worrying more about what goes on this week and on the golf course. And as a European, we’ve got a job to do and, yeah, try and compete as hard as we can and, hopefully, win the Ryder Cup.”
MacIntyre is currently ranked ninth in the world. He had six top-10 finishes in 2025, including a pair of runners-up at the U.S. Open and the BMW Championship. He finished tied for 17th in the FedEx Cup standings.
In 2023 in Rome, MacIntyre was 2-0-1 in Ryder Cup play, including a win in his singles match against Wyndham Clark.
