Andre Chi (Flushing, New York) was 9-under through 17 holes when the first round was suspended due to darkness Thursday at the 71st ECP Brazil Open, the first event of the 2026 PGA TOUR Americas season.

When he returns Friday morning, a birdie on the par-5 closing hole at Rio Olympic Golf Course would give him a 10-under 61, tying the course record set by Jonathan De Los Reyes at this event in 2024.

Chi is making his PGA TOUR Americas debut after earning membership via Final Stage of PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry last year.

In 2025, he made his first PGA TOUR start at the Valspar Championship after Monday qualifying, and in April, he finished T5 at the PGA Professional Championship (representing Deepdale Golf Club, where he was an assistant pro) to qualify for the PGA Championship.

Americans Dawson Armstrong and Jake Sollon carded rounds of 8-under 63, while five players are T4 at 7-under. Rafael Becker carded a 2-under 69 and is the low Brazilian.

Play was suspended due to darkness at 5:42 p.m. BRT with eight players left to finish. The first round will resume Friday at 7:20 a.m., and the second round will begin as scheduled.
