Drew Doyle (Louisville, Kentucky) led by one on the first tee Sunday, and he preserved that margin on the 18th green after a 13-foot par putt curled in to give him a closing 69 and a one-stroke victory at the Inter Rapidisimo Golf Championship in Bogota, Colombia.
Doyle, a second-year member out of LSU, was challenged by Canada’s Étienne Papineau (St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec), who was 9-under for the day, and 18-under total, through 14 holes. A bogey on the par-4 17th left Papineau one shot short at 17-under, as Doyle birdied No. 13 and parred the last five holes to clinch his first victory.
“It was really stressful coming down the stretch, I’m not going to lie,” Doyle said. “I played well on the front, well enough to get myself in contention. Sort of held on on the back nine. … It was really tense. As soon as that putt fell in, it felt like a monkey off my back.”
Doyle first earned status in 2024 when he advanced from pre-qualifying all the way to Final Stage of PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry Tour. Advancing from Second Stage was a significant milestone for Doyle, who at the time said he struggled to break 80 just a year prior to Q-School.
As a PGA TOUR Americas conditional member in 2025, he recorded three top-10s in nine starts and finished No. 52 on the points list to retain membership for 2026. And now, with his win Sunday at Club El Rincón de Cajicá, he’s No. 3 on the PGA TOUR Americas Points List and in position to earn one of the 10 Korn Ferry Tour cards at season’s end.
“It definitely takes a load off my shoulders. It allows me to just relax and go play golf now,” Doyle said. “Everyone out here’s trying to win and I think for the most part, unless you’re Derek Hitchner, the only way off this tour is to win. So, to have that under my belt now just frees me up to go out and maybe try to go do it again.”
Patrick Newcomb (Benton, Kentucky) closed with a 66 to join Papineau in a tie for second, while Zach Smith (Phoenix, Arizona) finished fourth, his best result in 14 starts on PGA TOUR Americas. In a tie for fifth was Justin Biwer (San Diego, California) and Corey Pereira (Sacramento, California), winner of last week’s Mexico Championship presented by Scotia Wealth Management.
Omar Morales (Puebla, Mexico) aced the 190-yard 16th hole with a 7-iron en route to a final-round 67 and a T9 finish, his second straight top-10.
After a week off, PGA TOUR Americas returns June 25-28 for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Wichita Open presented by Syndeo in Wichita, Kansas.
