Patrick Sheehan (Doylestown, Pennsylvania) made an albatross and eight birdies against one bogey en route to 10-under 62 to take the first-round lead at the Commissionaires Ottawa Open presented by Lépine Apartments in Ottawa, Ontario.
Sheehan made the turn at 5-under, then holed a 9-iron from 224 yards for an albatross on the par-5 first. He would go on to make three more birdies on his back nine, dropping his lone shot of the round on the par-5 fifth. His 10-under 62 marks the lowest round of his career in what is his 19th start on Tour.
A second-year member on PGA TOUR Americas, Sheehan owns four top-25 finishes and two top-10s this season, including a runner-up at the 94 Abierto del Centro Zurich presentado por Personal in Cordoba, Argentina. Sheehan medaled at his PGA TOUR Americas Q-School site in Dothan, Alabama to regain membership for the 2026 season, following a No. 100 finish on the 2025 PGA TOUR Americas Points List.
Paul Chang (Tianjin, People’s Republic of China) opened with a bogey-free 7-under 65 in his third start as a professional. Chang earned membership this summer by finishing No. 13 in the PGA TOUR University Class of 2026. He’s made the cut in both of his previous starts, highlighted by a T17 in his pro debut at the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Wichita Open presented by Syndeo.
Peyton Callens (Langton, Ontario), who began his round on No. 10, made the turn at 2-under before playing his next five holes at 6-under off the strength of two eagles on the par-5 first and fifth. Callens holds his best first-round position on PGA TOUR Americas in what is his 19th start.
