Mason Greene (Tustin, California) carded a 7-under 64 Friday at the Rio Olympic Golf Course to take a two-stroke lead after the second round of the 71st ECP Brazil Open.
Greene earned PGA TOUR Americas membership two weeks ago at Q-School, where he survived a 4-for-3 playoff to earn one of the final spots from the San Jacinto, California, site. The 25-year-old played five seasons at UCLA (2019-24), where he tallied six top-20 finishes in 34 career starts.
After Thursday’s play was suspended due to darkness, Andre Chi (Flushing, New York) started Friday with a par on No. 18 to complete a first-round 62, and he followed with a 2-under 69 and sits in an eight-way tie for second at 11-under. Also in a tie for second is Marcus Byrd (Temple Hills, Maryland), who matched Greene for the day’s best round with a 7-under 64.
Third-round tee times will run from 7-11:45 a.m. BRT off No. 1 tee.
36-hole cut (low 60 and ties): 76 players at 5-under 137 from a field of 144
