Bichette to resume ramp-up Monday after being left off ALCS roster

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette will resume his rehab routine on Monday as he continues to work his way back from a PCL sprain in his left knee, manager John Schneider said.

Bichette, 27, was left off of the Blue Jays’ 26-man roster for the American League Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners after missing the entirety of the ALDS last week.

The Orlando native was seen running the bases on Saturday for the first time since hitting the injured list in early September, but walked off of the field in apparent discomfort after pulling up while rounding second base.

As a result, Bichette was not named to the roster for the ALCS, and will not be eligible to play in the seven-game series.

Bichette, an impending free agent at season’s end, slashed .311/.357/.483 in 139 games played this year, adding 18 home runs, 44 doubles, and team-high 94 runs batted in.

Toronto did not make any changes to their position player group from their ALDS victory over the New York Yankees, but added veteran right-handed pitchers Chris Bassitt and Max Scherzer in place on Justin Bruihl and Tommy Nance.

The Blue Jays send Kevin Gausman to the mound against Bryce Miller in Game 1 of the ALCS as they look to reach the World Series for the first time since 1993.
