Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Shane Bieber lasted just 3 2/3 innings in his start against the Seattle Mariners in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series on Monday night.
The Mariners jumped on Bieber early, and grabbed an early 1-0 lead after Mississauga, Ont. native Josh Naylor singled home Julio Rodriguez in the top of the first inning.
Rodriguez doubled off Bieber to open up the ballgame, and later tagged him for a solo shot to lead off the top of the third to re-take a 2-1 lead over the Blue Jays.
Bieber was pulled from the game following a walk to Seattle’s No. 9 hitter Victor Robles in the fourth inning, with John Schneider handing things over to Louis Varland with runners on first and second and two outs.
Varland would then induce an inning-ending groundout, closing the book on Bieber in Game 7.
The Orange, Calif. native’s final line totalled two earned runs on seven hits with one walk surrendered across 3 2/3 innings pitched. He also added five strikeouts.
Acquired by the Blue Jays at the trade deadline, Bieber holds a player option for the 2026 season worth $16 million.
