Not only is Bo Bichette returning to the Toronto Blue Jays’ lineup Friday night for the World Series, he’s playing a position he’s never played before at the big-league level.

Bichette will play second base and bat fourth Friday as the Jays host the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1.

Bichette has never played second before at the MLB level, last appearing in a game there in Triple-A in 2019.

It will also be his first game action since Sept. 6 when he suffered a PCL sprain in his left knee. He was not on the roster for the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees or the AL Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners.

Bichette slashed .311/.357/.483 with 18 homers and 94 RBI in 139 games during the regular season before the injury.

Rookie Trey Yesavage will take the mound for Toronto Friday night against former Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell of the Dodgers.
