Bo Bichette, Chris Bassitt, and Max Scherzer have all been left off of the Toronto Blue Jays’ 26-man roster for their best-of-five American League Division Series against the New York Yankees.
Bichette, 27, was ruled out for the remainder of the regular season with a knee sprain after hitting the injured list in early September, and will not be available for the Blue Jays as they begin their playoff run.
Manager John Schneider revealed Bichette has yet to resume running as of Saturday, which remains the biggest hurdle remaining before a potential return to play.

Eyeing the ALCS gives Bichette another week-plus, but it’s still going to be a real challenge and it remains impossible to chart a timeline without him running. #BlueJays
Scherzer struggled in the month of September to the tune of a 10.20 earned run average across 15.0 innings in four starts, while Chris Bassitt has been on the injured list since Sept. 20 with lower back inflammation.
Toronto is set to carry 13 pitchers and 13 positions players in the series, including four left-handers in the bullpen with Justin Bruihl, Mason Fluharty, Eric Lauer, and Brendon Little.

The Yankees also announced their roster for the ALDS on Saturday, making one change from the Wild Card round series against the Boston Red Sox.
2024 American League Rookie of the Year Luis Gil has been added to Aaron Boone’s roster, replacing Mark Leiter Jr. for the series.
Gil has already been named the Game 1 starting pitcher for the Yankees, who have once again opted for 12 pitchers and 14 position players.
