The Toronto Blue Jays made a pair of moves ahead of their matinee against the Boston Red Sox on Thursday, recalling righty reliever Lazaro Estrada from Triple-A and placing lefty reliever Brendon Little on the paternity list.
The 27-year-old Estrada was sent down to the minors on Monday in order to make room for Simeon Woods-Richardson on the roster.
Estrada has appeared in seven games for the Blue Jays this season, allowed seven runs (six earned) in 12 innings pitched for a 4.50 earned-run average.
He picked up his first career save on Saturday in Philadelphia, shutting down the Phillies in the 11th to lock up the victory. A day later, he was credited with a blown save and a loss against the Phillies when he allowed two runs - one earned - in the bottom of the 12th inning.
Little has a 9.98 ERA in 16 games with the Blue Jays this season. After a disaster start to the season in which Little allowed 14 earned runs in six games (4.2 innings pitched), he was sent down to the minors. Since being recalled in July, Little has allowed just three earned runs in 10.2 innings over 10 appearances.
The Blue Jays (59-63) look to complete a four-game sweep against the Red Sox as they continue to climb back into the playoff hunt in the American League.
