Toronto Blue Jays prospect Ricky Tiedemann will start throwing again on Tuesday and ramp back up after dealing with elbow soreness, MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson reports.
Matheson adds the Blue Jays will be cautious with the young left-hander’s workload and a delayed start to the season is on the table.
Tiedemann was sidelined with elbow soreness in late February. He was originally slated to miss one week but ended up missing two.
He missed most of 2024 and all of last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Now 23, Tiedemann sits at No. 5 on MLB.com’s Blue Jays prospect rankings.
He had a 3.68 ERA in 15 starts spread across four minor-league levels in 2023.
Yesavage to pitch in minors game
Right-hander Trey Yesavage will pitch in a minor-league game on Wednesday at the team’s spring complex, Matheson reports.
The plan is for Yesavage to work two innings, which Matheson notes gives him time for two more outings before the start of the 2026 season.
The Jays have said throughout the spring they planned to be cautious of the 22-year-old’s workload in 2026 after he threw a combined 105.2 innings last season between the minors, end of the MLB regular season and postseason.
Yesavage had a 3.21 ERA in three regular-season outings last year and a 3.58 mark in six playoff games.
