Jays’ Guerrero Jr. doubles, walks twice in Single-A rehab appearance

Published:

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. doubled and reached base three times in a rehab game with Single-A Dunedin on Thursday night.

Guerrero Jr. hit third in the lineup as the designated hitter on the road against the Clearwater Threshers, an affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.

The 27-year-old lined an RBI double into the left-center field gap in his first at bat, before walking in second and fourth inning plate appearances.

He was replaced by a pinch runner in the fourth, ending his night.

Guerrero Jr. was placed on the seven-day concussion IL last Saturday after leaving Friday’s game following a play where he collided with New York Yankees shortstop George Lombard Jr. at third base.

He has appeared in 115 games this season for the Jays and has seven homers with 46 RBIs and a .263 average in 430 at bats.

The Blue Jays are 63-66 after earning a victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday and sit half a game out of the third American League Wild Card position.

They open a three-game series on the road against the Yankees on Friday.
