Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s series finale in Washington after leaving Tuesday’s game early with right hamstring tightness.
Guerrero appeared to incur the injury while legging out an infield single in the third inning. He beat out the play and then advanced to second on a throwing error.
“His hamstring was a little tight, as he hit the base there, and then turned into second it was a little sore,” manager John Schneider told reporters after the 8-6 loss.
Schneider said Wednesday that Guerrero was “feeling better” and could be available to pinch hit if needed.
Guerrero was 1-for-2 before departing. Kazuma Okamoto replaced him at first base Tuesday and will again play first Wednesday afternoon with Ernie Clement taking Okamoto’s usual spot at third.
The 27-year-old Guerrero is slashing .265/.345/.357 with just six home runs and 44 RBI in 103 games this season.
Jays recall Dallas
The Jays are bringing up right-hander Chad Dallas from Triple-A Buffalo, it was announced Wednesday.
Dallas has made two appearances for Toronto in 2026 and has a 1.93 ERA.
Righty C.J. Van Eyk has been sent down to Buffalo in a corresponding move after he allowed two runs (one earned) in 3.1 innings in Tuesday night’s loss.
The Blue Jays begin play Wednesday 10 games under .500 at 49-59, five and a half games back of the final AL wild-card spot with six teams separating them and a playoff spot.
