Jays’ Yesavage unable to get through single inning in first rehab game since knee surgery

Published:

Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitcher Trey Yesavage did not get out of the first inning in his first rehab start with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday night.

Yesavage, who’s working his way back after undergoing knee surgery on Aug. 11, allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits over just 0.2 of an inning before he was pulled from the game.

He threw 34 pitches with his fastball reaching 93.3 mph.

Yesavage suffered an injury to his left meniscus on Aug. 4 during a game against the Houston Astros and hasn’t played since.

The 23-year-old rookie has a 5-5 record with a 3.65 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP alongside 91 strikeouts over 18 starts and 93.2 innings pitched in 2026.

Yesavage made his MLB debut last September before becoming a breakout star in the postseason, highlighted by striking out 12 in a Game 5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.

The Blue Jays are hopeful Yesavage will be able to help stabilize their decimated pitching staff before the end of the season as they look to sneak into a wild-card playoff spot.
