The Washington Nationals have claimed right-hander Matt Waldron off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays, it was announced Saturday afternoon.
Waldron was designated for assignment by the Jays earlier this week.
The 29-year-old made four appearances for the Jays after they acquired him from the San Diego Padres. He didn’t allow a run in either of his first two outings but allowed multiple runs in his next two outings, bringing his earned-run average with the Jays up to 10.38.
His mark for the season sits at 7.54 after struggling in 10 appearances with the Padres prior to his time in Toronto.
A native of Omaha, Neb., Waldon is a four-year MLB veteran after making his debut with the Padres during the 2023 campaign.
