Heim, 30, spent the past five seasons with the Rangers. He appeared in 124 games in 2025, batting .213 with 84 hits, 11 home runs, 43 runs batted in and an OPS of .602. Heim threw out 11 of 70 attempted base runners last season.
A native of Buffalo, Heim was a member of the Rangers’ 2023 World-Series-winning team. That same season, he was named an American League All-Star and also won a Gold Glove.
The move to sign Heim comes with Sean Murphy still recuperating from surgery for a labral tear in his right hip. Murphy is expected to be ready for a return in May. Drake Baldwin, the 2025 National League Rookie of the Year, is the team’s primary backstop.
