The Tampa Bay Rays have acquire Liam Hicks in a trade with the Miami Marlins per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Hicks, 27, is slashing .282/.363/.432 with 14 home runs and 62 RBI in 101 games with the Marlins in 2026.
Hicks made his MLB debut in 2025 with the Marlins. The Toronto native represented Canada at the World Baseball Classic earlier this year.
He is primarily a catcher, but has also spent time as a first baseman and a designated hitter.
The Tampa Bay Rays are first in the American League with a 65-46 record.
The Marlins sit 1.5 games back of the final National League Wild Card spot with a 58-55 record.
