Report: Reds lock up pitcher Burns through 2033

Published:

Chase Burns and the Cincinnati Reds have reached a long-term contract extension.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the 23-year-old and the Reds have agreed to a seven-year, $105 million contract extension that keeps him in Cincinnati through 2033. The deal buys out two free agent years as Burns is currently not yet eligible for arbitration and was originally under team control through 2031.

Passan adds that the deal includes no club or player options.

Burns has been lights out so far in 2026. He has a league-leading 11 wins and made the NL All-Star Team with a 2.54 ERA and 118 strikeouts in 102.2 innings pitched.

He was selected No. 2 overall in the 2024 MLB Draft and made his big-league debut last June in a game against the New York Yankees.

More to come.
