Ferrari will mark the 30-year anniversary of Michael Schumacher’s arrival at Maranello by running a special livery at this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.
The cars will feature a livery that is inspired by the 1996 Ferrari F310 that Schumacher drove in his debut season with the Italian team.
Schumacher won five of his seven titles with Ferrari as well as taking 72 race victories -- more than any other driver with the team.
He joined Ferrari from Benneton in 1996 as a two-time world champion and announced his first retirement from F1 following his penultimate victory for Ferrari at the 2006 Italian Grand Prix.
The cars of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc in Monza will be predominantly red, with hints of gold on the wheels that pay homage to the all-gold wheels of the 1996 car.
Schumacher’s logo will feature on the car as well as seven stars on the nose that echo the design the seven-time champion wore on the top of his helmet while racing at Ferrari following his final title in 2004.
Hamilton and Leclerc will also wear racesuits designed to tie in with the look of the special livery as well as their own helmet designs.
Three of Schumacher’s former Ferrari cars -- the F310 (1996), F2002 (2002) and 248 F1 (2006) -- will be present at Monza to complete demonstration laps of the circuit over the weekend.
