Toronto’s Trae Bell-Haynes finished with 18 points and 11 assists in the victory as Canada became the last undefeated team remaining in Americas qualifying.
Kelly Olynyk, of Kamloops, B.C., added eight points and five rebounds as Canada’s only active NBA player to feature against Panama.
Canada’s lineup is set to get a boost of talent against Argentina with the Atlanta Hawks duo of Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Lu Dort set to return to action for Canada on Monday for an important Group F matchup.
Alexander-Walker, of Toronto, has averaged 10 points with 5.5 assists and two steals in two games last window, while Dort will make his 2027 qualifiers debut in his home province Monday.
The pair have previously helped Canada to a bronze medal at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, and most recently featured for the national team at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
Argentina currently occupies second place in the group behind Canada with a 6-1 record after an 89-75 victory over Puerto Rico on Thursday.
They are the second-highest ranked team in Group F at No. 8 in the world, while Canada comes in three spots higher in No. 5.
Following Monday’s contest, Canada will have four more games across two qualifying windows to book their spot at the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
The top three teams in Group F - currently Canada, Argentina, and Uruguay - will automatically advance to the World Cup in Qatar next summer.
