Could Bennedict Mathurin be set to sign an offer sheet?
Marc Stein reports that the Montreal-born restricted free agent has been in talks with the New Orleans Pelicans. Another unnamed team is also interested in the 24-year-old swingman’s services.
Originally taken with the sixth overall selection of the 2022 NBA Draft out of Arizona, Mathurin was acquired by the Los Angeles Clippers at the trade deadline as part of a deal that sent Ivica Zubac to the Indiana Pacers. He appeared in a combined 54 games this past season, averaging 17.6 points on .430 shooting with 5.4 boards and 2.4 assists over 30.0 minutes a night.
For his career, Mathurin has averaged 16.2 PPG on .442 shooting with 4.7 RPG and 1.9 APG over 28.6 MPG in 263 contests. Mathurin was a part of the Pacers team that fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games in the 2025 NBA Finals.
After representing Canada at the FIBA U19 World Cup in 2019, Mathurin has yet to appear for the senior team.
Should Mathurin ink an offer sheet with another team, the Clippers would have 48 hours to match it.
