GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Despite rumors this summer that Arizona Cardinals edge rusher Josh Sweat wanted to be traded, the Cardinals don't intend to move him.
"There's always a lot of talk that goes around that. We have no interest in trading Josh," Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort said Monday. "We're excited to have him, but some of those discussions are going to keep private, but excited to have Josh here. Had a great year last year. Excited for more good things out of him this year."
Sweat, who is coming off a career-high 12 sacks in 2025, has yet to practice with the Cardinals this offseason. He has been on the PUP list since reporting to camp in July while he deals with a knee injury. He did not attend voluntary organized team activities and minicamp this summer, and didn't participate in the mandatory minicamp in June.
Coach Mike LaFleur has been consistent in his assessment of Sweat during training camp, saying repeatedly that he is not concerned about his star pass rusher.
On Monday, Ossenfort said Sweat is "making good progress."
"Josh is getting closer every day," Ossenfort said. "I think Josh is going to be out there in due time to get ready for the season opener, and we're excited to get him out there and get him going."
