The New England Patriots host the Buffalo Bills in a critical AFC East showdown on Sunday.

New England (11-2) will earn the AFC East title with a victory over Buffalo (9-4) - unseating the Bills as division champions for the first time since the 2019 season.

The Patriots enter this contest on a 10-game winning streak, and their offence has been buoyed in recent weeks by the play of rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson.

Henderson, who was selected in the second round of the NFL Draft in April (38th overall), worked in a backup role for the most part early in the year.

But after opening-day starter Rhamondre Stevenson went down with an injury at the end of October, Henderson took the starting role and ran away with it.

In Henderson’s first game as the lead back on Nov. 2 against the Atlanta Falcons, he turned 18 touches into 87 yards from scrimmage. A week later, Henderson had his coming-out party, turning 15 touches into 150 yards from scrimmage, with a pair of touchdowns.

Over the past five games as the lead back in New England, Henderson has totalled 497 yards from scrimmage with five touchdowns, finishing each game with at least 14 touches and at least 80 yards from scrimmage.

Henderson now sets his sights on the Bills and their porous run defence, which ranks 28th in the league in yards allowed (135.2 per game) and has allowed more than 180 yards rushing in five separate games this year.

Christian McCaffrey - Tennessee Titans vs. San Francisco 49ers - 4:25 p.m. ET

Christian McCaffrey has been one of the few consistently healthy skill-position players on the San Francisco 49ers’ offence throughout the season. Only he and fullback Kyle Juszczyk have started all 13 games for the 49ers’ offence this year.

The two-time All-Pro has put the team on his back at times, willing the 49ers to a 9-4 record and a firm spot in the NFC playoff race. McCaffrey leads all NFL players with 322 touches, 40 more than the next closest player.

Given the heavy workload, the fact that McCaffrey, who has missed 36 of a possible 97 games over the past six seasons with various muscle injuries, has remained healthy could be considered a minor miracle.

And he isn’t just staying healthy - he is still producing at an elite rate in his ninth NFL season at age 29.

McCaffrey’s 1,655 yards from scrimmage rank third in the NFL, his 13 total touchdowns rank fourth in the league, and his 85 receptions lead all running backs by almost 30.

McCaffrey has exceeded 100 yards from scrimmage in 10 of 13 games, this year, and has totaled 140 or more scrimmage yards an astonishing six times.

With a late bye week giving McCaffrey a chance to rest the legs and reset for the stretch run, the former Offensive Player of the Year will have a chance to put on a show against the lowly Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon.
