Charlie Coyle isn’t going anywhere.

The Columbus Blue Jackets announced a six-year, $36 million extension for the impending free agent on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old veteran centre produced 20 goals and 38 assists over 82 games with the Blue Jackets in 2025-26, his 14th in the NHL and first in Columbus.

“Charlie made a tremendous impact on and off the ice for us last season and keeping him in Columbus was a priority,” general manager Don Waddell said in a statement. “He is the definition of a true pro, and a durable, reliable, productive right-shot center whose leadership, character and consistency are extremely valuable in this league.  We are thrilled that he will continue to be a very important part of the Columbus Blue Jackets for years to come.”

Columbus acquired Coyle from the Colorado Avalanche at last summer’s NHL Draft and is in the last season of a six-year, $31.5 million contract, featuring an average annual value of $5.25 million.

He was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

A native of Weymouth, Mass., Coyle has tallied 209 goals and 334 assists over 1,032 career games with the Minnesota Wild, Boston Bruins, Avs and Jackets.

Coyle has 26 goals and 27 assists across 126 playoff games.

Columbus finished fifth in the Metropolitan Division this season with a 40-30-12 record, missing the playoffs for a sixth straight season.
