The 6-foot winger is coming off a two-year, $4.2 million contract that carried a cap hit of $2.1 million and is a restricted free agent.

McMichael broke through as a top-six forward on the Capitals in 2024-25, registering 26 goals and 57 points in 82 games.

Drafted 25th overall by the Capitals in 2019, McMichael has 67 goals and 154 points in 315 career games.

The Capitals drafted Gastrin with the 37th overall pic in 2025. With the HockeyAllsvenskan’s MoDo last season in Sweden, he scored 10 goals with 24 points in 39 games.
