The Montreal Canadiens announced on Tuesday that defenceman Alexandre Carrier will miss two-to-four weeks due to an upper-body injury.

Defenceman Adam Engstrom was recalled from the AHL’s Laval Rocket on Monday.

Carrier, 29, has scored seven goals with 22 points in 73 games with the Canadiens this season while averaging 19:05 of ice time.

He last played in Sunday’s 3-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes where he had 19:05 of ice time.

A fourth-round pick (115th overall) by the Nashville Predators in the 2015 NHL Draft, he was acquired by the Canadiens on Dec. 18, 2024 in exchange for defenceman Justin Barron.

He is in the second season of a three-year, $11.25 million contract with an AAV of $3.75 million.

The Quebec City, Que., native has skated in 369 career NHL games, scoring 20 goals with 109 points split between the Predators and Canadiens.
