Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher has been inserted into the lineup for Game 5 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Gallagher was a healthy scratch for the first four games of the series, but did not take the optional skate on Wednesday, an indication that he could possibly make his series debut at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa.

The 33-year-old scored seven goals and added 16 assists in 77 games during the regular season for the Canadiens.

Gallagher has been with the Canadiens since the 2012-13 season and has 246 career goals and 487 points over 911 games in Montreal.

The Edmonton native was selected by the franchise 147th overall in the fifth round of the 2010 NHL Draft.

The series between the Canadiens and Lightning is tied at 2-2 entering the pivotal Game 5 matchup with each team earning a home and away win through the first four games, three of which went to overtime.

The loser of Wednesday’s game will face elimination at Bell Centre in Montreal on Friday night.
