Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki is the winner for the 2025-26 Frank J. Selke Trophy, while his teammate Cole Caufield has been awarded the Lady Byng Trophy.
The Selke is given to “the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game” while the Lady Byng is awarded “to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.”
Suzuki beat out Tampa Bay’s Anthony Cirelli and Colorado’s Brock Nelson for the award with 151 first-place votes and ran away with a total of 1,726 voting points.
He joins Bob Gainey (four times) and Guy Carbonneau (three times) as Canadiens to win the award.
The 26-year-old scored 29 goals with a career-high 101 points in 82 regular-season games while averaging 20:49 of ice time and recording a plus/minus rating of +37.
In the playoffs, he scored four goals with 16 points in 19 games to help Montreal reach the Eastern Conference Final.
Caufield, 25, scored 51 goals last season, finishing second to Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon in the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy race for the most goals in the NHL.
He also finished with a career-high 88 points with 12 game-winning goals and five overtime winners while recording just 14 penalty minutes.
Caufield added six goals and 13 points in 19 playoff games.
He edged out Los Angeles Kings captain Anze Kopitar and Ottawa Senators defenceman Jake Sanderson, capturing 45 first-place votes and 776 total points.
He is the third Canadien to capture the Lady Byng along with Toe Blake (1945-46) and Mats Naslund (1987-88).
