New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes is not expected to play Saturday against the Washington Capitals with a non-hockey hand injury.

The 24-year-old suffered a hand injury while at a team dinner Thursday night.

An exact timeline is not known yet, as Hughes is still being evaluated by the Devils on the severity of the injury.

Hughes has had a great start for the 12-4-1 Metropolitan Division-leading Devils, piling in 10 goals and 20 points in 17 games.

In 385 career games, the former first overall pick has put up 151 goals and 371 points since he made his debut during the 2019-2020 season.
