Devils sign veteran forward Glendening to one-year, $775K deal

Luke Glendening is sticking around with the New Jersey Devils.

The team confirmed on Tuesday that they have turned the player’s professional tryout into a one-year deal worth $775,000.

Glendening, 36, heads into a 13th NHL season.

A native of Grand Rapids, MI, Glendening spent the last two seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning. In 2024-2025, he appeared in 77 games, scoring four goals and adding three assists.

An undrafted free agent out of Michigan, Glendening has appeared in 864 NHL games with the Lightning, Dallas Stars and Detroit Red Wings, with whom he spent the first eight seasons of his career. Glendening won a Calder Cup in 2013 with the Red Wings’ American Hockey League affiliate and his hometown team, the Grand Rapids Griffins.

For his career, Glendening has 83 goals and 83 assists.

Internationally, Glendening suited up for the United States at the 2019 IIHF World Championship in Slovakia.

The Devils open up their 2025-2026 campaign on Thursday with a visit to the Carolina Hurricanes.
