Dorion interviews for Canucks’ vacant general manager role

Published:

Pierre Dorion, the former general manager of the Ottawa Senators, was in Vancouver last week where he interviewed for the Canucks’ GM vacancy, according to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger.

The Canucks are in need of a new general manager after firing Patrik Allvin last month following a trying 2025-26 campaign where they finished last in the NHL with just 25 wins.

Dorion, a 53-year-old native of Ottawa, served as Sens’ GM from 2016 to 2023, making just a single playoff appearance.

His time in the nation’s capital ended on controversial terms as the franchise was forced to give up a first-round draft pick as punishment for their role in a voided trade between the Anaheim Ducks and Vegas Golden Knights.

Vancouver has missed the playoffs for two straight seasons and nine of the last 11 seasons.

At 25.5 per cent, the Canucks have the best chance of winning Tuesday’s NHL Draft Lottery.
