Calgary Flames forward Ryan Strome has been fined $5,000 for cross-checking Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson during Tuesday evening’s game, NHL Player Safety announced Wednesday.

The penalty is the maximum allowable under the collective bargaining agreement.

The incident occurred with the two teams deadlocked 3-3 in overtime when Strome cross-checked Robertson up high during a puck battle along the boards. Robertson fell to the ice and Strome was called for a double-minor. Shortly after, the Stars scored on the power play to win the game 4-3.

Robertson briefly left the game and returned to assist on Wyatt Johnston’s winner. Robertson finished with a goal and two points on the night. He has 41 goals and 50 assists for 91 points in 78 games this season.

Strome had one hit in 13:10 of action. He has eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points in 49 games this season split between the Flames and Anaheim Ducks.
