Philadelphia Flyers forward Noah Cates has been ruled out for the remainder of their second-round series against the Carolina Hurricanes with a lower-body injury, the team announced on Wednesday.

Cates, 27, skated 20:53 in the team’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Hurricanes in Game 2 on Monday.
The 6-foot-2 centre was acting as the team’s second-line centre in between wingers Tyson Foerster and Matvei Michkov.
Cates recorded a goal and four points in eight playoff games this year. He also put up 18 goals and 47 points in 82 games during the regular season.
Philadelphia also recalled forward Jett Luchanko from the Ontario Hockey League’s Brantford Bulldogs on Wednesday.
Luchanko was drafted 13th overall by the Flyers in 2024 and appeared in four games with the NHL club at the beginning of the season.
The 5-foot-11 centre registered seven goals and 43 points in 38 games in the OHL split between the Guelph Storm and Bulldogs and added two goals and seven points in 15 playoff games before the Bulldogs were eliminated on Monday.
The Hurricanes hold a 2-0 series lead over the Flyers with the series shifting to the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia for Game 3 on Thursday.
