The Flyers are working on a long-term extension to keep starting goaltender Dan Vladar in Philadelphia, according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.

LeBrun reports that there is still work to be done on the extension but it is expected to be in the five to six-year range with a salary cap hit around $5 million once completed.

The deal can’t be officially signed and announced until July 1 as Vladar still has a year remaining on his two-year, $6.7 million contract he signed with Philadelphia on July 1 as a free agent.

In his first season with the Flyers in 2025-26, Vladar started a career-high 52 games, going 29-17-4 with a .906 save percentage and 2.42 goals-against average.

The 28-year-old helped the Flyers reach the second round of the playoffs before being swept by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Vladar also suited up for one game for Czechia at Milano Cortina 2026, backstopping his country to a 6-3 preliminary round win over France.

He received two second-place votes and three third-place votes for the Vezina Trophy and two fifth-place votes for the Hart Trophy this season.

A third-round pick (75th overall) of the Boston Bruins in 2015, Vladar was dealt to the Calgary Flames in 2022, where he played four seasons.
