The Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning are headed to overtime in Game 1 of their first-round series, tied 3-3.
The Canadiens will start overtime on the power play.
Juraj Slafkovsky had a pair of regulation goals for the Canadiens, while Josh Anderson added a tally in the first. Brandon Hagel and Darren Raddysh responded for the Lightning in the second period.
Anderson opened the scoring in the first period with a shot from the slot that sailed over Vasilevskiy’s shoulder.
Slafkovsky scored his first late in the second period on another power play, tying the game after Tampa Bay had ripped away the lead with a pair of quick strikes from Raddysh and Hagel earlier in the period.
On an early third-period power play, Cole Caufield set up just below the goal line and slipped a pass to Slafkovsky in the slot, who ripped his second of the game past Andrei Vasilevskiy to give the Canadiens a 3-2 lead.
Hagel tied the game shortly after on another Lightning power play, taking advantage of a beautiful cross-crease pass from Jake Guentzel to put one past a down and out Jakub Dobes.
