Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood is dealing with an injury according to head coach Adam Foote, and is considered day-to-day.

Sherwood logged just under 19 minutes of action in Vancouver’s 5-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, but was not participating in practice on Monday.

The 30-year-old winger has been one of the few bright spots in a trying season for the Canucks, as he leads the team with 17 goals. His name has come up in trade talks after the Canucks signaled it was time to reset when they traded superstar defenceman Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild in December.

According to Foote, Sherwood is pushing to play, but may miss as much as a week. The team did not disclose what Sherwood is dealing with.

St. Louis Blues

The St. Louis Blues were missing a pair of players in practice on Monday morning, as Philip Broberg and Robert Thomas were both not present for the session.

Broberg left the Blues’ 4-2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday after just 55 seconds of ice time with an apparent concussion, according to Blues head coach Jim Montgomery. The defenceman recorded an assist in that game, and now has two goals and 15 points on the year.

This injury comes just days after the Blues signed Broberg to a six-year contract extension worth $48 million.

According to Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic, the 26-year-old forward Thomas may have taken practice off for a maintenance day, as he’s done so on multiple occasions recently.

The Blues are riding a three-game losing streak with their next game on Tuesday against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Florida Panthers

Star forward Matthew Tkachuk continues to skate, but was not skating on any line and did not participate in line rushes at Florida Panthers practice on Monday morning.

Tkachuk returned to the ice for the first time at the end of December as he continues to work his way back from off-season surgery.

The 28-year-old has guided the Panthers to back-to-back Stanley Cup titles. He scored eight goals and finished with 23 points in last year’s Stanley Cup playoffs while nursing an injury suffered in the Four Nations Face-Off in February. His off-season surgery addressed that injury.

The Panthers have won just two of their past six games, and they take on the Buffalo Sabres on Monday night.

Montreal Canadiens

Jakub Dobes is slated to start for the Montreal Canadiens in net against the Canucks on Monday night.

Dobes will get the start for the first time since allowing five goals in a victory over the Hurricanes on New Year’s Day.

In 21 starts this season, Dobes had a 3.01 goals-against average and an .889 save percentage.

The Canadiens are third in the Atlantic Division at 25-14-6, and will look to bounce back after getting thrashed 4-0 by the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.
