“He didn’t feel quite right, so he just came off,” Arniel told reporters Monday.
The 32-year-old Hellebuyck is coming off his second straight Vezina Trophy and third Vezina overall after posting a 2.00 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage during the regular season.
Montreal Canadiens
Defenceman Noah Dobson will not be in the lineup on Tuesday when the Canadiens take on the Ottawa Senators in pre-season action in Quebec City.
Dobson left Thursday’s pre-season loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs with a groin injury prior to the third period and is considered to be day-to-day.
The 6-foot-4 right-shot defenceman was acquired from the New York Islanders prior to the 2025 NHL Draft in June in exchange for forward Emil Heineman and two first-round draft picks.
He had 10 goals and 39 points in 71 games with the Islanders last season while averaging 23:16 of ice time.
Calgary Flames
The Flames have assigned forwards Sam Honzek, William Stromgren, Aydar Suniev, defencemen Hunter Brzustewicz, Nick Cicek, Artem Grushnikov, and goaltender Owen Say to the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers on Tuesday.
Additionally, the Flames have placed forwards Clark Bishop, Dryden Hunt, Sam Morton, and defenceman Yan Kuznetsov on waivers for the purpose of reassignment to the Wranglers.
Minnesota Wild
After singing his record-setting extension Tuesday morning, forward Kirill Kaprizov was back on the ice for the Wild after an eye infection kept him from skating over the weekend, reports The Athletic’s Michael Russo.

The Wild have also released forward Brett Leason from his professional tryout, bringing their current training camp roster to 30 players.
