Ice Chips: Sens’ Eller a game-time decision against Devils

Ottawa Senators

Forward Lars Eller participated in the Senators’ morning skate and is a game-time decision to play against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.

He skated on the team’s fourth line between David Perron and Stephen Halliday.

Eller, 36, missed the last two games while dealing with an undisclosed injury.

The 6-foot-2 centre joined the Senators on a one-year, $1.25 million deal in the off-season and has two goals and six points in 26 games this season.

Linus Ullmark is expected to get the start against the Stars on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-4 netminder has won four of his last six games and has a 10-7-4 record this season with an .877 save percentage and 3.00 goals-against average.

Edmonton Oilers

Stuart Skinner will bein the crease on Tuesday when the Oilers take on the Sabres.

Skinner, 27, is coming off a 6-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday where he allowed two goals on 21 shots.

The 6-foot-4 netminder has a 10-8-3 record with an .889 save percentage and 2.86 goals-against average.

Edmonton is projected to use these lines against the Sabres on Tuesday:

Montreal Canadiens

Jakub Dobes will be in net when the Canadiens take on the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday.

Dobes, 24, is trying to return to the win column after allowing four goals on 18 shots during the Canadiens’ 4-3 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Sunday.

The 6-foot-4 netminder has a 10-4-2 record this season with an .890 save percentage and 3.03 goals-against average.

Winnipeg Jets

Eric Comrie will get the start in net against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.

Comrie, 30, has been the team’s primary goaltender since superstar Connor Hellebuyck went out with an injury on Nov. 15.

The 6-foot-1 netminder has a 3-5-1 record since Hellebuyck went down, allowing 24 goals in nine games.

He has a 6-6-1 record this season with an .898 save percentage and 3.08 goals-against average.

Winnipeg assigned defenceman Elias Salomonsson to the AHL’s Manitoba Moose.

Salomonsson, appeared in four games with the Jets this season and averaged 14:44 of ice time.

The 6-foot right-shot defenceman was drafted 55th overall by the Jets in 2022 and has six assists in 17 games in the AHL this season.

Boston Bruins

Forward David Pastrnak is a game-time decision for when the Bruins take on the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday, according to head coach Marco Sturm.

Pastrnak, 29, has missed the team’s last five games while dealing with an undisclosed injury.

The 6-foot winger has a 11 goals and 29 points in 25 games this season.

Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks recalled forward Dominic Toninato from the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs on Tuesday.

Toninato, 31, five goals and 17 points in 24 games in Rockford this season.

The 6-foot-2 forward last appeared in the NHL with the Winnipeg Jets last season during Game 6 and 7 of their first-round matchup with the St. Louis Blues.

Colorado Avalanche

Forward Martin Necas is a game-time decision for the Avalanche’s game against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday due to an illness.

Necas, 26, came to the rink for the team’s morning skate but was sent home due to the illness, according to head coach Jared Bednar.

The 6-foot-3 centre has 14 goals and 39 points in 29 games this season.

Forward Gavin Brindley is a candidate to enter the lineup if Necas is unable to play.

Brindley has four goals and seven points in 18 games with the Avalanche this season.

Additionally, Bednar announced that Scott Wedgewood will be in net against the Predators on Tuesday.

Wedgewood, 33, last appeared during the team’s 3-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Dec. 2 but left the game with an injury.

The 6-foot-2 netminder has a 13-1-3 record this season with a 2.07 goals-against average and .920 save percentage.

Dallas Stars

Defenceman Thomas Harley will return to the lineup when they take on the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday, according to team reporter Mike Heika.

Harley, 24, has missed the team’s last 12 games with a lower-body injury.

He has a goal and 10 points in 18 games this season while averaging 22:59 of ice time.

Casey DeSmith is expected to start against the Jets on Tuesday.

Desmith, 34, is coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to the New York Rangers on Dec. 2 where he allowed two goals on 41 shots.

The 6-foot netminder has a 6-1-3 record this season with a .921 save percentage and 2.16 goals-against average.

New Jersey Devils

Forwards Timo Meier and Jesper Bratt will both be in the lineup when the Devils take on the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday, according to team reporter Amanda Stein.

Meier and Bratt missed practice for maintenance days on Monday and head coach Sheldon Keefe said their status for Tuesday’s game would depend on how they feel.

Meier has 11 goals and 23 points this season while Bratt has five goals and 26 points in 29 games this season.

New York Islanders

Forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau will be in the lineup when the Islanders take on the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday.

Pageau, 33, missed the team’s last eight games while dealing with an upper-body injury.

The 5-foot-11 centre has six goals and 12 points in 22 games this season.

Philadelphia Flyers

Dan Vladar gets the start in net when the Flyers take on the San Jose Sharks.

Vladar, 28, received his first loss in five games on Dec. 1 when he allowed five goals on 27 shots in a 5-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The 6-foot-5 netminder has a 10-5-1 record this season with a 2.59 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage.

Defenceman Ty Murchison will make his NHL debut against the Sharks on Tuesday.

Murchison, 22, was drafted 158th overall by the Flyers in 2021 and has a goal and four points in 21 games with the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms this season.

Additionally, forward Carl Grundstrom will draw into the lineup on Tuesday.

Grundstrom appeared in one game with the Flyers this season, a 3-2 overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators on Nov. 8.

The 6-foot winger was acquired from the Sharks, along with defenceman Artem Guryev, in exchange for defenceman Ryan Ellis and a draft pick in October.

Pittsburgh Penguins

Rickard Rakell skated for the first time since going down with a hand injury on Oct. 26.

Rakell was a full participant in practice on Tuesday after he was cleared for contact.

The 6-foot-1 was originally given a 6-to-8 week timeframe for his return after sustaining the injury.

Rakell has three goals and eight points in nine games this season.

Arturs Silovs will get the start in net on Tuesday when the Penguins take on the Anaheim Ducks, confirmed head coach Dan Muse.

Silovs, 24, is looking for his first win in four starts and has a 4-4-4 record this season with an .898 save percentage and a 3.00 goals-against average.

St. Louis Blues

Forward Jordan Kyrou has been deemed week-to-week with a lower-body injury after the team received his MRI results on Tuesday.

Kyrou, 27, left Saturday’s 2-1 win over the Ottawa Senators early in the first period after colliding with Senators forward Stephen Halliday along the boards.

The 6-foot-1 forward needed help to get off the ice and into the dressing room and didn’t return.

“It’s kind of what we thought it would be. We’re happy with the results of the MRI considering it could have been longer,” Blues head coach David Montgomery told reporters on Tuesday. “We know it’s at least a week and we’re labeling it week-to-week right now.”

Kyrou has eight goals and 16 points in 28 games this season.
