Florida Panthers

Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov skated on Tuesday, along with forwards Jonah Gadjovich, Tomas Nosek, and defenceman Dmitry Kulikov who are also on long-term injured reserve, according to George Richards of Florida Hockey Now.

Barkov, 30, underwent surgery in September to repair ACL and MCL injuries and was given a 7-to-9 month timeline for his recovery.

General manager Bill Zito told The Palm Beach Post on Monday that he doesn’t expect Barkov to be ready to play during the regular season.

“I think his injuries are such that the time frame could be longer, but it’s never shorter,” said Zito. “That’s from the doctors. Hopefully we’re able to make the playoffs [and] at some point of the playoffs he would be available.”

“Spirits-wise, he’s doing great, he doesn’t really get too high or too low. He’s wonderful. It’s incumbent upon us to try to get there and give him a chance [to come back].”

Barkov registered 20 goals and 71 points in 67 games last season with the Panthers and won his third Frank Selke Trophy as the league’s best defensive forward.

He added six goals and 22 points in 23 playoff games as he led the Panthers to their second of back-to-back Stanley Cup championships.

Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to be in the net when the Panthers take on the Utah Mammoth on Tuesday, according to head coach Paul Maurice.

Bobrovsky, 37, has a 20-14-1 record this season with an .875 save percentage and 3.08 goals-against average.

He served as Reimer’s backup during the team’s 7-1 win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday.

Head coach Travis Green told reporters that Ullmark was ready to play on Sunday if needed and that the goaltender will let the organization know when he’s ready to start.

The 6-foot-4 netminder has a 14-8-5 record this season with an .881 save percentage and 2.95 goals against average.

Reimer, 37, was signed for the remainder of this season on Jan. 12. He has a 1-2-1 record since joining the Senators with an .871 save percentage and 3.32 GAA.

Jacob Quillan will sit out to make room for Jarnkrok.
