Minnesota Wild forward Marcus Foligno was named the winner of the 2026 King Clancy Trophy, the NHL announced on Thursday.
The King Clancy Trophy is awarded annually “to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.”
Foligno, 34, recorded eight goals and 13 points in 56 games last season with 67 penalty minutes. He added two goals and three points in 11 playoff games before his team was eliminated in the second round.
He has spent the past nine seasons of his career in Minnesota after playing six seasons with the Buffalo Sabres. He is under contract through 2027-28 at a cap hit of $4 million.
The 6-foot-3 winger teamed up with his brother Nick to create the Foligno Face-Off organization with support from the NHL, NHLPA, Wild, Chicago Blackhawks, and the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
The Foligno Face-Off was created to raise funds for breast cancer research in honour of their mother, Janis, who passed away from the disease in 2009.
Nick Foligno began the program while he was still a member of the Blackhawks and fans to donate between Team Nick and Team Marcus by donating $17, their jersey numbers at the time. They raised more than $200,000 across North America in the effort.
Marcus Foligno also received $25,000 to donated to a charity of his choosing as part of winning the trophy.
