The New York Islanders are considering Bo Horvat day-to-day with a lower-body injury, head coach Patrick Roy said.

The 12th-year forward, who is in the running for Canada’s Olympic roster, missed Friday morning’s optional skate after departing Thursday night’s game.

“He’s still day-to-day,” Roy said. “We’ll see how it goes.”

Horvat became tangled with Anaheim Ducks defenseman Drew Helleson at 6:52, limped off the ice and immediately went down the tunnel leading to the Islanders locker room.

Horvat, who has 19 goals - which is tied for fourth in the NHL - and 31 points, seemed to have difficulty putting weight on his left foot after his ankle bent awkwardly and twisted as he was falling to the ice.

The 30-year-old center hasn’t missed a game this season. He played 81 games each of the past two seasons, scoring 28 goals last season and 33 goals in 2023-24.

Horvat has 288 goals and 592 points over his 12-year career that started with the Vancouver Canucks before he joined the Islanders in the 2022-23 campaign after a mid-season trade.
