The New York Islanders announced Friday that they have signed Pageau to a three-year deal.

TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston reports the total value of the contract is $14.55 million, meaning Pageau will carry a cap hit of $4.85 million through the 2028-29 season.

The 33-year-old centre was in the final season of a six-year, $30 million deal, and would have become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 before the signing.

Pageau has recorded 14 goals and 15 points for 29 points in 55 games with New York this season.

Drafted 96th overall by the Ottawa Senators in 2011, Pageau has 173 goals and 395 points in 852 career games split between the Senators and Islanders.

The Ottawa native represented Canada at the 2018 World Hockey Championship in a fourth-place finish.
