Sabourin, 33, appeared in 26 contests last year, scoring one goal and adding four assists in his first season in Tampa. The forward also recorded 89 penalty minutes on the year, the third-highest total among all Lightning skaters.
He also appeared in Games 2 and 3 for the Lightning in their first-round playoff series against the Montreal Canadiens in April, but was held off the scoresheet in limited action. Tampa Bay would go onto lose the series in seven games.
The Orleans, Ont. native has skated in 73 career games at the NHL level since his debut in the 2019-20 season, scoring three goals and 13 points in time spent with the Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, San Jose Sharks, and Lightning.
Sabourin has spent the majority of his professional career playing in the American Hockey League, skating in 556 regular-season games dating back to the 2012-13 season.
At the AHL level, he has scored 94 goals and 189 points while racking up 1,245 penalty minutes.
Sabourin was originally set for unrestricted free agency on July 1 before inking the one-year extension with Tampa Bay.
