Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Brandon Carlo will miss Saturday’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks with a lower-body injury.
Carlo, 28, last appeared during the team’s 4-3 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday where he skated 19:44, recording a shot.
He is considered day-to-day with the injury.
The 6-foot-5 right-shot defenceman appeared in all 18 games for the Maple Leafs this season, registering two assists with a plus-two rating while averaging 20:04 of ice time.
Additionally, Joseph Woll will make his season debut against the Blackhawks on Saturday.
Woll, 27, missed most of the Maple Leafs’ training camp for personal reasons and had been working himself back into playing condition over the last two weeks.
The 6-foot-3 netminder appeared in two games with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies during his conditioning stint, going 0-1-1 with a 3.72 goals-against average and an .885 save percentage.
Woll went 27-14-1 last season with a 2.73 GAA and .909 save percentage while sharing the net with Anthony Stolarz, who was put on injured reserve on Saturday.
Toronto enters play on Saturday sitting seventh in the Atlantic Division with an 8-8-2 record, but are four points behind the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, and Boston Bruins for first place.
