Maple Leafs D McCabe (upper-body) leaves early vs. Habs

Published:

Jake McCabe will be back in the Maple Leafs' lineup when they host the Ducks tonight and the defenceman updated how he is feeling after taking a puck to the head. TSN's Tony Ambrogio has more on the return of McCabe and the status of Bobby McMann and David Kampf, who joined their teammates at Thursday's morning skate.

Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Jake McCabe left Saturday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens because of an upper-body injury and did not return.

McCabe took a puck to the face in the second period and did not return for the third. The team officially ruled him out for the night shortly after as they went on to lose 4-2.

Head coach Craig Berube did not have an update when speaking with reporters after the game other than to say McCabe’s injury was “bad enough to not come back to the game.”

The 32-year-old McCabe had two shots on goal and two blocked shots in 12:37 of ice time prior to departing.

He has three goals and seven assists in 22 games so far this season for Toronto.

The Leafs will be back in action on Wednesday in Columbus against the Blue Jackets.
