Maple Leafs D Rielly hasn’t waived no-movement clause

Toronto Maple Leafs veteran defenceman Morgan Rielly has not agreed to waive his no-movement clause, according to TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston.

“Sources say Morgan Rielly hasn’t green-lighted a trade by waiving his NMC at this point in time. Any reports to the contrary are false,” Johnston said on social media Tuesday afternoon.

The 32-year-old blueliner has played four seasons of an eight-year, $60 million contract, featuring an average annual value of $7.5 million.

Some believe the Maple Leafs may attempt to move Rielly this summer after a disappointing season and newly named general manager John Chayka now on the job.

Chayka made his first major move on Tuesday, sending goaltender Joseph Woll and defenceman Simon Benoit to the Philadelphia Flyers for goaltender Samuel Ersson, defenceman Emil Andrae and a third-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.

Rielly scored 11 goals and 25 assists over 78 games for the Leafs in 2025-26, his 13th season in Toronto.

The Vancouver native has spent his entire career with the Maple Leafs after he was selected by the organization fifth overall in 2012.

Rielly has 98 goals and 451 assists over 951 career games in the NHL, adding 15 goals and 32 assists over 70 playoff games.

The Maple Leafs finished last in the Atlantic Division with a 32-36-14 record this season, missing the playoffs for the first time in nine years.
